Enhancing your Psilocybin Experience

GUIDANCE FOR PREPARATION, INTENTION SETTING & INTEGRATION

Psilocybin can offer profound transformation and healing, and there are several factors that can enhance the power of your experience.

SET & SETTING

Your internal state or mindset (“set”) and external physical and social environment (“setting”) play an important role in the psilocybin experience. Our goal is to ensure our clients are supported in both capacities over a continuum -- this begins with mental preparation and intention setting prior to each journey, includes physical and emotional comfort during the session itself, and continues through thoughtful interpretation and integration as follow up.

PREPARING FOR YOUR JOURNEY

By law, all clients participate in a preparatory session with their facilitator at least 24-hours before their psilocybin experience. Chariot typically recommends these occur approximately 1-2 weeks prior to your journey. This allows space to sit with your intentions, to let them sink in and evolve, without feeling rushed or too drawn out. Clients and facilitators schedule this time together independently, and it can occur virtually or in person. If your prep is primarily virtual, you will often have the opportunity to connect in person shortly before your journey as well.

INTEGRATING YOUR EXPERIENCE

By law, every facilitator will always check in with their client within 72 hours of a session; Chariot facilitators typically do so the following day. Beyond that, follow up is personalized for each client, and grounded in each facilitator’s own style and expertise. All of our facilitators include at least one follow up integration session for every client (should they choose to participate). Some offer options for a series of integration or ongoing support. Chariot recommends that facilitator-supported integration occurs about 1-2 weeks following your psilocybin session. This allows the client space to return to their daily rhythms and to begin processing the experience, ahead of working with their facilitator to further interpret meaning and integrate learnings into their life.
